SENNA: The Movie

Senna winning gp

Finally, it arrived in my mailbox! The just released DVD version of SENNA…No Fear, No Limits, No Equal, that won the 2011 Sundance Film Festival Documentary Award. I have followed Formula 1 Grand Prix racing since the 70’s as both a fan and later as an aspiring racer and the period of the epic Prost vs. Senna battles epitomized all the glory and excitement of that era.

“Following the on-track and off-track achievements of the world’s fastest Formula One racer, SENNA explores the life and career of the three-time World Champion Ayrton Senna. Directed by Asif Kapadia (The Warrior, Far North), the filmmaker uses astounding footage and an innovative approach to tell this remarkable story that spans Senna’s racing career, from his opening season in 1984 to his untimely death a decade later.

Far more than a film for just F1 fans, SENNA is a true cinematic experience that captures one man’s physical and spiritual triumphs, his relentless quest for perfection and the mythical status he has since attained. “

Ayrton Senna was an inspiration and hero to myself and to many generations of racers around the world.
